Welcome to Taste of Abisko – Culture and Nature in the Colors of Autumn
Welcome to Taste of Abisko, a half-day experience that immerses you in the Arctic nature and its rich flavors, with a special insight into Sámi culture.
This tour is designed for those who want to explore the unique tastes of the North, surrounded by the majestic autumn landscape of Abisko National Park.
Experience the home of the Sami in the Goahti
The highlight of this tour begins with a visit to a reconstructed Sami settlement, where you’ll step into a traditional goahti (kåta). Here, surrounded by the silence of the birch forest and the crackling fire, we share stories of Sami life through the eight seasons. You’ll also savor Arctic delicacies such as reindeer meat, coffee cheese, ghakku (soft flatbread), and other flavors deeply rooted in Sami culture.
Explore the Colors of Autumn and Reflect
After our time in the goahti, we take a short walk along Abiskojåkka, the river winding through the national park and out into Lake Torneträsk. Your guide will share stories about the unique environment of Abisko, where the vibrant autumn colors shine brightly and wild berries offer the natural flavors of the land. We’ll pause at particularly interesting spots to give you time to reflect and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
Let the Taste of Abisko give you a deeper understanding of Abisko and its history. The calm of autumn, along with captivating stories of life in the North, will turn this experience into a memory for life.
